FHWA, Eldorado Canyon Road Storm Repairs

Record rain fall to Arizona and Nevada caused the road (NV165) leading to Nelsons Landing on the Colorado River (15 Miles below Hover Dam) to be severely damaged.  The USDOT, Central Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration contracted with SWP to perform emergency repairs to 3 sections, approx. 1 mile of NV165 within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

SWP conducted:

  • Field design and repairs
  • Traffic and quality control
  • Erosion control
  • Import, mechanical placement, and grouting of 3224 cubic yards of rip rap boulders ranging in size from 12 to 52”
  • Hot asphaltic paving and road way striping.

SWP was brought on in the initial stages of this high profile project.  The project was completed in a limited work area in a highly sensitive environment.  There were no adverse issues with this project.
