Strand Avenue/Avenue D Bridge Replacement

USBR advertised for bids a project to replace various bridge structures with box structures as the existing infrastructure was needing increased maintenance. This project was to replace the Avenue D Bridge over the Salinity Canal along the Salinity Canal Levee Road. MCI was the General Contract and SWP was contracted to grade the road after the structures were replaced.

SWP was tasked with the rough grading of the roadway alignment, placement of ABC, fine grading and AC placement extending from the far edge of the new box structure across the levee and associated abandoned railroad track to tie into the existing alignment of Avenue D.  Guardrail and roadway markings were subsequently placed to finish the project and open the crossing back up for the residents in the nearby Cocopah Indian Reservation Community.

The structural section was 4” AC Paving on 8” of Aggregate Base Course.
